Do we really need a "Day"

Valentines Day, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Friendship Day, Brother Day, Sister Day, Rose Day and I don't how many more such days are like that(For more information about days visit http://www.123greetings.com/events/march2006.html). Not even a single day of the year has been spared by such days. But the main point to ponder about is that do we really need any day like that. Do we need a day to tell our beloved that they are loved or days like Fathers or Mothers Day to tell our dad and mom that we respect them. Similar arguments for other days. It's very hard to comprehend the significance of such days. What's the significance of days like Rose Day or My pet day. More than that it's hard to believe that these days are actually celebrated. what kind of people celebrate these days and what's the motive? According to my view these days are a part of the marketing strategy of some handful gift companies. They campaign like this, first they create a day, say mothers days, and then they advertise that if I haven't given a card to my mom on mother's day then I don't love and respect my mother. com'on, I dont need a day to prove that I love my mom or dad or whatever.

Apart from that I also strictly condemn the attitude of activists groups like ShivSena or Bajrang Dal or VHP. It's absurd on their part to behave like that.

If we still insists on celebrating days then we must also celebrate Martyrs Day, Kargil Day, Black day, Victory Day. We should ask from ourself that when was the last time we remembered these days, celebrating is a different issue. Think when was the last time we went for the flag hoisting on Independence day or Parade march on Republic Day. If we want to remember the death anniversary of St. Valentine then why don't we remember our heroes Bhagat Singh or Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose or Azad. Do we still remember the dates of these days? Why this partiallity for these great people? Why dont we celebrate 23rd March as for eg. Equallity day or 18th August(official death date of Netaji) or for instance 23rd January(birth anniversary) as Religion Brotherhood day. After all these people were for these thoughts only. Why National Integration Day observed on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary goes unnoticed. But for his efforts, India woudn't have been the same.
