Wht's there in Kashmir

History of Kashmir prb goes like this...i'll jus tell the brief outline...

At the end of WW2, Britain had a huge military debt on India but doesnt have the monetary fund to clear it as its own infrastructure was highly devastated in the war. The only way to clear that was thru some kind of trade and British made this wonderful plan to leave India in an insurgency so that it wud b tended to buy weapons frm the west.
Then the proposal for freedom for India came and it was a general truth tht princely stated were given the right either to annex either with any of the partitioned nations or remain independent. This was an awesome strategy to leave as many parts possible of a country and then enjoy the fruits later. Thanx to Sardar Patel thier plan cudnt becum successful.Ok then both India and Pakistan were trying to annex as many princely states as possible. Kashmir was one of the states which wanted independent existence(other 3 wr Bhopal, Hyderabad and Junagarh). Pakistan had an eye on both Junagarh and Kashmir because both were border states. It also didnt want Hyderabad to get it annexed to India and was sending insurgents there in the name of religion.(One unbiased point is that the annexure of Junagarh was on religious basis only). Now Kashmir had more muslims and Pakistan was seeing the success of Sardar Patel and it didnt want to miss the chance with Kashmir so it did an attack with its army in disguise of insurgents. During tht time military of independent states was still unofficially in the British hands. Point to be noted that most of the Indian military was busy in riot affected areas then. They didnt give the mobilisation oreders because they knew that it cud be a fruit bearing issue for them. And Pakistan captured some parts of the Kashmir and in the same time Maharaj Hari Singh signed the annexure statement with India to get military assistance. Point to be noted that most of the Indian military was busy in riot affected areas then. Till the army cud be mobilised, Pakistan captured some parts of the Kashmir.

And a line called LOC was made with Nehru making a blunder of agreeing to consensus in Kashmir under UNO which never happened because at some point or other one of the countries backed off of the consensus proposal. India's argument is that Hari Singh has signed the annexure document so Kashmir is a part of India. While Pakistan doesnt agree to the document because Kashmir is has more muslim population and hence it should be annexed to Pakistan as per the India Independence act. Although as time changed they changed the propoganda to "Freedom of Kashmir" and call the terrorists(Indian perspective) as freedom fighters.

Kashmir is a very strategic territory from military point of view. Himalayas there act as a perfect wall. More than a strategic position, it has become an ego issue in these 60 years for both the countries. And no one want to loose its parts as it can create an huge impact on the integrity of the nation. Askai Chin was again a big strategic area which was handed to China by Pakistan in lieu of arms trade.

Both Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi got a perfect chance of trading Kashmir with the Pakistani areas captured by Indian militray in 1965 and 1971 respectively. But at that time India was hugely dependent on many countries even for food. (Wheat was imported from US till late 60s). And those countries wanted to sell weapons also which were a big source of income for them. If the issue was solved then there wudnt be any conflict. So the prisoners were just made free and the captured land was given as it is(It is an open fact).

The best solution at this date is to make LOC as the International border. Then all the problems wud be solved. Because none of India or Pakistan will part with its peice of Kashmir. More than that both the sides should understand the fact that its all the strategy of west to grow thier economy by keeping us in a war state. Even Russia also wants Kashmir issue to be alive. After the break up of Soviet Union, its economy is highly dependent of arms trade which it does with China, India, North Korea, Cuba, eastern European countries etc. American president sell advanced navy carriers to Pakistan and makes an offer to us for F-16s n F-18s. Its upto the people and government of the both sides to understand that we are not enemy of each other but our common enemy is that which is growing at the cost of us.

Toxic Vessel is going back

Now Clemecaeau is going back to France. An hailed decision by the Apex court of France. This is a very cruicial win for environmentalists but seeing from the point of view from the labours of the Alang ship breaking yard it's a evil boon. Evil because it will loose the income and boon because it will save the workers from the deadly exposure of the asbestos.

The business at Alang is already sinking and the experienced work force is decreasing due to the lack of work. Once Alang used to give employment to thousands of workers; the number which is now reduced to few. Now the important question arises that was the desicion of Supreme court to hold the ship outside the Indian waters at the cost of crores of rupees business justified? Yeah it was justified. Because even after the much deliberation the exact quantity of the asbestos or any other toxic material was not clear. Different agencies were giving different data. Moreover by the toxic waste not only would Alang be affected but also the near by areas beacuse specially asbestos can be transported by wind etc. So in this scenario when the data was ambigous, it was the obvious decision. Now suppose given the exact data, should ship be called back? A benchmark should be decided for the amount of the toxic material. If that amount is not that harmful then ship can be brought back. Because any old ship will obviously have the toxic waste and the workers should be trained to dispose the waste skillfully. Business can't be returned just like that. Some risks has to be taken.

The “Day” Truth

Well Well Well...my last two posts have declared me as an anti Valentine Day person. It's not true to say that I haven't expected that. I was expected. Ok its time now to explain my stand. Please read between the lines people. Celebrating Valentine day is not a bad thing but bragging about it is bad. Making a day for yourself is not a bad thing but doing just for the sake of doing it because others are doing is not good as well. Celebrate a day only if its celebration is justified, otherwise don't. I have seen people waiting for Valentine day to propose or whatever. That is a wrong attitude. A piece of advice: Don't wait dear. Just do it. And not to make an issue of some day. People tell me that its a day to tell your dear ones that you love him/her. Personally I don't need a specific day to make them feel that I love then.

Moreover, I can't be anti Valentine Day because I am not solitary.

Do we really need a "Day"

Valentines Day, Fathers Day, Mothers Day, Friendship Day, Brother Day, Sister Day, Rose Day and I don't how many more such days are like that(For more information about days visit http://www.123greetings.com/events/march2006.html). Not even a single day of the year has been spared by such days. But the main point to ponder about is that do we really need any day like that. Do we need a day to tell our beloved that they are loved or days like Fathers or Mothers Day to tell our dad and mom that we respect them. Similar arguments for other days. It's very hard to comprehend the significance of such days. What's the significance of days like Rose Day or My pet day. More than that it's hard to believe that these days are actually celebrated. what kind of people celebrate these days and what's the motive? According to my view these days are a part of the marketing strategy of some handful gift companies. They campaign like this, first they create a day, say mothers days, and then they advertise that if I haven't given a card to my mom on mother's day then I don't love and respect my mother. com'on, I dont need a day to prove that I love my mom or dad or whatever.

Apart from that I also strictly condemn the attitude of activists groups like ShivSena or Bajrang Dal or VHP. It's absurd on their part to behave like that.

If we still insists on celebrating days then we must also celebrate Martyrs Day, Kargil Day, Black day, Victory Day. We should ask from ourself that when was the last time we remembered these days, celebrating is a different issue. Think when was the last time we went for the flag hoisting on Independence day or Parade march on Republic Day. If we want to remember the death anniversary of St. Valentine then why don't we remember our heroes Bhagat Singh or Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose or Azad. Do we still remember the dates of these days? Why this partiallity for these great people? Why dont we celebrate 23rd March as for eg. Equallity day or 18th August(official death date of Netaji) or for instance 23rd January(birth anniversary) as Religion Brotherhood day. After all these people were for these thoughts only. Why National Integration Day observed on Sardar Patel's birth anniversary goes unnoticed. But for his efforts, India woudn't have been the same.

I don’t know why?

I don’t know why,
People celebrate Valentine’s Day
To make it happen
They can go far away.

I don’t know why,
They say it’s a day
To fall in love
And give someone your heart away.

I don’t know why,
They crave for it
To celebrate it grandly,
They put off all their works away.

I don’t know why,
People plan for it
And say with lots of enthusiasm
“I am going to party all night away”.

I don’t know why,
They meet with charm
With approval and apprehension
To live for sometime and then part away.

I don’t know why,
They need a day to propose
Doesn’t their love has confidence
On any day to say it away.

I don’t know why,
They can’t differentiate love and infatuation
Happily and cheerfully thinking it love
They go on walking away.

I don’t know why,
They don’t think what love is
It comes slowly and unlike infatuation,
Stays behind and does not quickly pass away.

I don’t know why,
They don’t know love is an emotion
Unlike infatuation which is a feeling,
No one, from you, can take it away.

I don’t know why
People make an issue of love
With an attitude of “take it easy”
Why just they can’t bear it away.

I don’t know why….
I am falling in love
Is it an infatuation or love?
Whatever it may be, I just want to put it away.

Americans Vs. Indians

US citizens devastated New Orleans more than the furious Katrina. The news of robbery, rape etc. shocked me. I was hard to believe that all this can happen in US. And to mention that I was not reading this news in any local newspaper, I was reading this entire in New York Times website. I was more shocked about the attitude of the people there than the law and order situation. Still there is no proper shelter for the people and food situation has not been tackled yet properly. I was seeing the photos of desolated Americans shouting at one army men for delay in food supply. In other photo there were people sitting outside some stadium and waiting for food. There was no proper shelter. I never saw Americans so deprived, helpless and desperate.

All this reminded of the Tsunami and recent Mumbai floods. Now I feel proud of the sportsmanship showed by the Indians to help there fellows. First of all there was no case of illegal activities and secondly people tried to organize things for themselves as much as possible. I still remember how various NGO’s rushed from Hyderabad when Tsunami struck. And in Mumbai, those who could, organized “langars” and distributed breads.

We always used to think Americans as well off, mighty and high cultured people. What is this culture where you rape someone or rob a person when a disaster struck your city just to get the gain of lawlessness and disorder? Indian USphiles are sure to ridicule me on this but I think that God only help them if they are still affected by that ‘US cataract’. I think we Indians are better than them in humane behavior. Whatever may be the economic condition of our country but we care for others even when we are in need.

Oil

There was a time when my father used to give me Rs.50/week for petrol for my bike. That was just 4 years ago. Petrol was “just” Rs.23/litre. Even at that time also I used to keep my bike on maximum mileage.

Now the situation is different. Yesterday only our honorable petroleum minister Mr. Mani Shankar Aiyyar had announced the hike in the petrol prices by Rs.3.33. By this the petrol prices are now Rs.50/litre. It is about 217% rise as compared to 2001. If we analyze this through the prism of simple rate then we find that annual inflation of Petrol was about 54% which is about 6.5 times more than the national inflation rate. And still the oil companies are selling it at the subsidized rate. My father told me that he can only give money according to national inflation rate. And now I am Rs.85 short of what petrol is costing me. This means that I have to increase the mileage of my bike 1.7 times more. Previously my bike used to give the mileage of 60km/litre. Now ideally it should be 102km/litre to cope with this situation. But practically no bike exists in India which can give this much mileage.

World oil prices are increasing day by day. There is a very abysmal oil production in Iraq, world’s second largest oil producer at one time. All because of the illegitimate war against Iraq. The oil production is affected by the improper governance. Different community groups are fighting against each other in Iraq and barring US there is no authority till now in Iraq. Major oil fields are in the Northern Iraq which is Kurdish area but the main sect in Iraq is Shias and it does not want too much Kurdish involvement in the government. Now when no one has the real power, there is no proper authority to control law and order situation there. And because of that many insurgents set fire to many oil wells in northern Iraq. As a result of this rest of the world is getting affected by low oil supply. Consequence - the roaring oil prices. The worst part of this is that US which has the power to control all this is not doing anything. How can it do? It has world biggest imbecile, George W. Bush as the president. He can’t even control order situation in Louisiana, so how can anyone think of him to control Iraq. He is worse than Richard Nixon. What did Bush thought when he attacked Iraq? He might have thought that he can control any thing in the world by world’s largest armed force and mightiest weapons. I still wonder how he became president for the second time.

Now India should not fall into the trap of US and put the Iran pipeline into backburner. That is the source by which India can meet its oil demands with a reasonable price. It has not been estimated that what would be the cost of Iran pipeline oil but it would definitely be less than the present oil prices. Both Saudi Arabia and Iraq are now US allies. If we keep on depending on them too much for the oil then it may happen that we have trade our sovereignty for that at some time. US citizens are at present no way in a mood to go for a war. So there is no chance of a war against Iran. Moreover US’ foreign policy first concern is North Korea. First it will tackle with North Korea then it will concentrate on Iran and obviously it will take time. It may also happen that the matter would be resolved in due course of time. Taking the worst case, if US attacks Iran, then also we can keep on trading with Iran. So in any case the pipeline is will be beneficial to us. And then I can hope for the reduced oil prices.

Various colors of "Rainbow"

Are there only seven colors needed to make a rainbow? If not then how many?

The number of colors in the rainbow is definitely not seven if not infinite. But that number is definitely increasing. Every second many colors are added to it and few colors are lost. If we compare the rate of addition of colors to the loosing then we can definitely justify the above the above statement that the number is increasing. And it is astounding to notice that no two colors are same. It is very strange. The colors are indiscriminately being added to it. Its not being realized the impact on the rainbow by this addition. There must be a capacity of this rainbow to sustain the colors. If there is a limited capacity then what will happen when this capacity will be exhausted? Where will the new colors go? Why can’t the new addition be done in such a manner that there should always be some space for the new additions? These questions are not being realized now but once the problem erupts, there will be a very difficult answer.

Will it be possible to create another rainbow or find a one on which the new additions can be shifted? But suppose if another rainbow be found then can the new one be able to replicate the old. The answer is very complex. And suppose every prerequisite till now be fulfilled; how many of the colors will be ready to shift?
This can cause a lot of conflicts among the colors in any case whether they want to shift or not. At present also there are lots of conflicts among the colors on different issues and the issue of space seems very trivial now. Suppose if we club similar colors then it is not false to say that this number is increasing. And since the number is increasing the number of color groups is also increasing time by time creating a lot of mutual differences and hence the number of sets of different demands is also increasing. Many existing colors question their demands and classify them as separatist or absconders. This leads to renege of these so called ‘absconders’. But there demands are rhadamanthine. They have full right to have their own demands. And due to these ideological differences too many vendettas occur between these groups.

The order the rainbow is deteriorating because of these vendettas and leading to the disruption of its spectrum. It’s the high time to think about the number of additions in the rainbow as the every new addition will contribute in the formation of a new lobby and jeopardize the chances of a future addition at least till a new Rainbow be found out and a decision be sorted out for the migration to it.

Happy Birthday to you

Since I was not able to write any new good article so I thought of psting a poem which I wrote some time back.
Personally I don't like it too much but I posted it just for the sake of posting something :D.

Happy Birthday to you

I wish ...
Happy Birthday to you.
But I don’t have anyone now,
To say,” Same to you.”

In this solitude,
You made me to think.
That when you were with me,
I didn’t have time even to wink.

I remember those matches,
Those cricket singles,
And in the evening after that,
Sweet cookies of Mrs. Pringle.

And that sand castles on the beach,
Which we used to make.
For it on holidays,
Early we had to wake.

Bunking of classes,
Was my favourite sport.
And to do that,
I was fully dependent on your support.

I have not forgotten your favourite spot,
It was balcony of floor seven.
About which you always told me,
“There I really feel like being in heaven.”

And how can I forget,
Those envious boys,
Who always used to say,
That our friendship was a toy.

And...I also remember,
That black day.
I don’t know what happened,
You left me away!

Now I am alone,
Celebrating our birthday.
Now I can’t get back those days,
Those matches, cookies and castles.

You believed in God,
I did not.
I ask you God…
On whom my friend believed so much.
“Where you envious of our friendship?”

The "Soul"

This is a story of two souls 'So' and 'Ul' who met each other centuries ago. One of them came to other’s home after hearing lot about him. Initially they had lots of conflicts between them. Both were of opposite natures. Their lifestyles were different. Even they believed in different forms of God. Those conflicts led to the closeness between the two and eventually they got married. They named their family ‘Soul’. For centuries they lived happily, shared thoughts between them, produced their children and believed in each other. They got mixed up together so cohesively that it was hard to find the difference between them. Both of them adopted each other’s lifestyle so easily as there was no difference between them. This was an ideal family for many of their neighbours and even families living in the different cities. There neighbours were jealous on them.

Then came a day when some of their neighbours came to their home as guests and confiscated major parts of their home. Confiscators even tried to divide them. But divorce was not easy. They fought together against the confiscators and drove them away from their. For this struggle they paid a price by many lives and parting with some portion of their home. But the confiscators were successful in doing one thing. They were successful in sowing the seeds of distrust between So and Ul and theirs Souls. They could not get divorce as they have to show their society that they are living happily together. But internally hatred grew between So and Ul. Even the so called Guardians of So and Ul do the work of ‘putting oil in the fire’. Many times they fought on different occasions. Sometimes this grew too vigorous that many innocent children died.

When a couple has nihilism between them, children are the most affected. Same is the case here. In their home many of their children are crying with hunger and impoverishment. Their neighbours are becoming prosperous by supplying matches to burn the home. Many of their children don’t have books to study, any work to do. In contrast to it their neighbours are working hard day and night and becoming rich. But all these facts do not deter So and Ul to not to fight. Their only concern is how to outclass other. For this they take God as the medium. The difference of belief on God is the weapon of the conflicts. The agnosticism is too deep that the children who don’t have any work to are employed for this. The so called Guardians, instead of curbing all these, encourage it. The Soul is getting affected by al these. The family is getting ruined. If this continues then a say will definitely come when there will be a divorce between So and Ul and the Soul will die.

The "Right" Corridor

When I went inside through the gate I found myself surrounded by big hedge bushes and big stones carved into faces which depicted different human feelings. In the moonlight those faces were not very clear. Those were on either side of the path which led to the palace. The path was made of stones embedded in the soil like ancient days. The palace’s was glowing and it was the only source of direction apart from the moonlight which led me towards it. As I moved ahead I found a parallel road on which creatures of various species were going in the opposite way as mine. I went on. The palace was appearing nearer. As I came close I found that the various creatures were coming from the darker side of the palace. I could notice silhouette emerging from the dark region. The heads of those creatures of were down and they moved slowly and quietly. A feeling of sadness was there on their faces. I couldn’t resist my inquisitiveness and tried asking them who they are and why they are sad.
When I asked them, they didn’t hear me. I pointed to some but they didn’t even see towards me. Unaffected by my call, they kept on moving. Since they were not listening to me, I thought moving ahead. After walking few miles I finally reached the entrance of the palace. The gatekeeper asked my name. I told my name as he checked that in his big book. After confirming my name he asked me to go in. I went in the long corridor. It ended at a huge hall where lots of different creatures were waiting for there turn to go to the ‘Decider’ behind whom there were two corridors. I reported to the manager before taking my seat. He checked my reporting time. I was one hour late. He asked me why was I late. I said him that I was late because my family didn’t want me to go. In the goodbye bidding ceremonies I became late. He recorded that on a paper and passed to someone who took that paper to the ‘Decider’s’ assistant. I took my seat and waited for my turn. I noticed that people going to the right corridor were very ecstatic and in the contrast, people going to the left were very sad. I was not allowed to talk to anyone else there. After a long time, finally my turn came I went to the Decider. He checked my log and processed it on his calculating device. The output came as ‘0’. Zero meant that it’s an indecisive stage. I neither belonged to the left or right path. But then the assistant passed the sheet of my late arrival to the Decider and it made my count to -1. The verdict – I had to go to the left path. I had to go to a path which had lots of sorrows and torments. After the months of tortures, I was finally converted to a dog and made me to return by that other parallel path which I saw while coming.

Now I am a Dog. I returned back to my home to serve and get that ‘right’ corridor this time.

Light...

Your element is Light, Innocent, beautiful, kind-hearted and pure. You are so sweet you’re almost angelic, you find joy in others happiness and cannot stand to see anyone in pain. You want to make everyone around you feel good about them and if someone is upset you can tend to become rather upset as well which means you are sympathetic and raise others above yourself. Being as kind and good-natured as you are people has most likely hurt you in the past but you pick yourself up every time. You may look fragile but you are stronger than most tend to see. Life is beautiful no matter how you look at it and you understand that people make mistakes, not everyone is perfect. You try to see the good in the bad which is a talent few posses, don’t ever let anyone change you. You truly have a beautiful soul inside and a heart of gold.

When I was always late…

I m being too lazy 2 write my blog which is due frm last many days ... so I thought of posting a poem which I wrote as pastime in DC class :D

When I was always late…
My alarm rang at the mist of dawn,
I again went to sleep with lots of yawn.
With a promise to sleep only for five minutes,
I went to dreamland to enjoy all its bits.

Tour ‘de dreamland over and I stretched my hand,
To notice the change of thirty degrees in clock’s hour hand.
“Oh my God” I screamed, “I am late”,
In front of my eyes came closed doors and gate.

I hastily ran towards the bathroom,
To quickly get ready and get groom.
Immediately I put on my clothes and got my tables fixed,
As I didn’t want the breakfast to get missed.

Missing the breakfast had become a daily habit,
Now not my class at least, I ran to it like a rabbit.
“Get out of the class, you’re are late”, this was only left to hear,
But by too much begging pleases teacher had no option but to bear.

Hunt for a seat began after that part,
Only to get a broken chair that was kept apart.
Sitting on that was a lot of pain,
I was wondering how my rush had gone in vain.

The Cyber Game followed that torturing torment,
We needed to practice to win that year’s tournament.
We were defeated badly in the practice relay,
Everyone blamed me as I was making too much delay.

“Alas!”, the lunch timing for the mess was over,
As the game ended, hunger on me started being hover.
In my stomach as the rats started jumping,
I saw the only hope as the college canteen.

It’s good that my canteen had opened round the clock,
But misfortune on me again made a mock.
No sooner in the canteen did I take a seating,
My friend reminded me that we are late for a meeting.

Rushing was the only option; I couldn’t even took a bite,
I wished I could had the speed of light,
After reaching there I saw mentor’s absence,
But my gladness ended soon when people told me,
Mentor left because he wanted whole team’s presence.

I was asked to call him from his office,
As I anticipated, I had to face a lot of music.
Meeting started with a lot of good quotes,
But when my turn came up,
I realized that I forgot some important presentation notes.

Music again showered on me as meeting was postponed for next week,
I was cursing my mentor for being such a freak.
“Now what to do?” became the question of the day,
As what I did remain incomplete on the way.

I went back to my room and found a party’s mail.
But the only condition was that I had to go with a female.
With this thing my bad seemed to be becoming good,
I asked by calling my friend if she could.

With no second thoughts she quickly got agreed,
The joy was enormous as that was my need.
I was frustrated with the day’s excursion,
As bad luck to me came in recursion.

There was a surprise event at party and I didn’t want to miss it
So this time I thought of starting early a bit.
I reached my friend’s place to fetch her,
But it made me cry when she told her makeup is not yet over.

I pleaded her to do that things fast,
Why girls take too much time as if they are going for a cast.
I was helpless as my bad day was still able,
And I missing the event became inevitable.

My intuition was great; I was late again,
I felt like beating my friend with a cane.
Rest of the party was compliment of the moon,
Those frustrating events made me to come back home soon.

Sleeping was the only hope after that day’s game.
But just as I was going to sleep, my friend came.
To my agony he gave me a bad news of a test,
Oh my God, how much can a person hope for the best?
